FRUIT LOGISTICA e BIOFACH 2020
10 February 2020
From 5 to 7 February, more than 3,000 businesses working in all sectors of the fresh produce industry will gather in Berlin for Fruit Logistica 2020. And that includes Simonato, presenting our packaging and product innovations.
The event will showcase fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, nuts, dried fruits, fourth-range (washed, packaged and ready-to-eat) and fifth-range (pre-cooked, not frozen) products, aromatic herbs and spices, as well as flowers, plants, and organic and fair-trade products. It will feature presentations on the latest innovations in growing techniques, as well as production and treatment systems, waste disposal systems and air conditioning and packaging plants, to name just a few. Up for grabs again this year is the Innovation Award, a prestigious prize recognising innovation across the entire fruit and vegetable supply chain.
Another event for the diary is Biofach 2020, the world's leading organic food trade fair, which takes place in Nuremberg from 12 to 15 February. With 3,500 exhibitors, and visitor figures expected to reach 50,000, it is an indicator of the steady growth of the global organic food industry over the course of the year. The jam-packed event offers visitors the opportunity to discover new food and non-food products (Vivaness, an international fair dedicated to natural and organic personal care products, is running parallel to the food show), industry news, market trends and innovations in the sector.
Engaged in organic production since 1997, Simonato will introduce new packaging this year – following last year's launch of the award-winning BioKepos3 – demonstrating our continued commitment to sustainability and eco-compatibility. Indeed, as of this year, we can offer a new range of paper-only, 100% plastic-free packaging, developed for containing and transporting our organic aromatic plants. Bio&PaperPack consists of two innovative elements: a handy pot-holder made from natural-coloured recycled cardboard that is suitable for food contact, and a water-resistant paper bag, designed to hold and protect the plant without the need for a plastic pot. We believe this new packaging is the ultimate expression of a certified organic supply chain that shows respect for the environment, something that Simonato has been active in supporting and promoting for years.
